I am often asked how to properly read and interpret the movements of opponents of the words: “When I thought about how to balance a big bet or not, my opponent is always telling me to fold. Should I believe such words?”
The answer is complicated because it depends on the player. Someone will try to convince you that you need to fold, while they need a call. Someone will say it when they just want to fold. And who is doing something quite the opposite. Personally, I turn a deaf ear to such comments as they do not have to me any important information.
If you are unsure what to do, do not pay any attention to what your opponent says. Do not let him somehow influence your decision. If you somehow do not believe and take into account that says rival – is the fact that you can easily manipulate.
I know some tricks and techniques that eventually could get my opponent to call. When I say something your opponent, then I want him to take note of this. I want him to use my words against me, and it gives you a welcome call.
So if your opponent starts you say something, and you treat it as a kind of puzzle you want to solve, then stop. You are being manipulated.
However, in some cases, you can manage your own rival. Here is one of the reliable examples of how their words can give the enemy himself.
I thought. His actions did not look like a bluff. He was definitely ready to hand. But I figured it could not be set or two pair, or a more powerful flash. 4-3, that gave Gat-shot, were also unlikely because on the flop, he just called. And I started thinking, what kind of combination could be had. As he played the hand that I could beat as two pairs, for example?
While I was thinking over all this, my opponent began to write messages in a chat: “What have you got? Seth on aces, which you flopped? You have made a strange raise before the flop:, you’ve got aces in fact, is not it?”
I just folded. He said all I needed to know. By and large, when a player makes a big raise, it means two things: it waits for you to either call or fold.
Sometimes an opponent may be some cards that he did not know what to do with them. But if the cards have at least some force, it will be put.
If a player starts to talk about your hand, he would never mention the other hand that beats him. When he believes that you have set on the aces, and thus it can not cover it, it will be silent and wait for you to fold. If it says about your aces, he is not afraid. Thus, when he asked me, if I have aces, I knew right away that he could easily set cover. Since I was sure that he does not have a straight, which means that he had a flash.
Such examples are rare, but often they are absolutely reliable. If your opponent expects you to react to a big bet, and thus begins to mention some combinations, assuming that you have them, it means that he can easily cover them. Of course there are exceptions, but in this case, I was absolutely right.
